I was struggling to make out the figure in the distance until I fitted a long lens to my camera. She was carrying fodder that she had gathered for her animals – a daily routine, I suspect and always undertaken in those spectacularly coloured saris that are unmistakable, especially in Rajasthan. I deliberately shot through the grass and flower heads, blurring them to create a more interesting foreground.
